first impression: apocalips by rimmel london.

I'll admit it. I made a naughty asos.com order last week. I may have ordered a few dresses and decided to throw these puppies in to the order because I can't get them in the United States and I have been hearing people rave about these new Rimmel products for a couple of weeks now. Let me introduce to you, Rimmel London's Apocalips Lip Lacquers! I believe they retail for around $7.00, but since they aren't available in the States yet, who knows?

Let's talk colors. I ordered Nova, Big Bang, and Apocaliptic. I also ordered the ever-popular Celestial, but it was out of stock by the time they processed my order. I was gutted. Nova is the brightest pink of the three. I would say it's more of a rosy, mauvey kind of pink. It's a little more pink than I'm willing to wear every day, and I'm more comfortable with reds. Speaking of, Big Bang is the true, in-your-face, here-I-am red. It's pretty stunning. It's the only one I haven't tried on my lips yet, but I know I will love it. And finally, Apocaliptic is a more fuschia pink with deeper red undertones. It's bright, in your face, and would be fun on a night out.

With the doe-foot applicator, the application is pretty smooth. If you're like me and always have somewhat of a problem with putting lip gloss on, you're going to get the normal clump of color or product at the upper edge of your top lip. It's nothing a tissue wouldn't fix. Practice makes perfect, right?

The product definitely has a scent. I can't put my finger on it, but it definitely smells fruity and sweet. It isn't my favorite thing in the world, but it's definitely something I could live with. I would say that upon first application, I can faintly smell the lacquer, but I think with a few minutes, it will disappear.

Now for the actual lip lacquer. It isn't sticky. It's thinner than a Stila Lip Glaze and MAC Lip Glass. I think I would even venture to say it's a pretty thin forumla, but that doesn't mean it isn't pigmented. Holy smokes, these things are pigmented! I mean, the swatches above are with a light hand, so you can only imagine swiping this across your lips. I noticed Nova and Apocaliptic dried a little in the lines of my lips, but that tends to happen with pinks for me. With it being such a wet consistency, it might not be everyone's favorite go-to lip product. But hell, that color pay off might be worth giving it a go.

The product isn't perfect, but I can tell why there was such an initial buzz over them. If you're looking to slap color on your lips, this is what you should go to.

I haven't been wearing Nova for too long while writing this post, but I have a feeling it could dry down to a stain if you wear it long enough. I could do an updated review later if you guys want!

But for now, if I was rating these on a scale of one to five, five being the greatest lip product of all time, I'd give it a solid three. It's drugstore. It isn't super expensive. It's worthing checking out if you're looking for extreme pigmentation, just to see how it will wear on your own lips.

Happy yoga Thursday, everyone! Time to get my namaste on.

    1. I'd definitely recommend Big Bang! I think I'd really love to get my hands on Celestial, but like I said, I don't have easy access to them like you probably do! I'd give at least one a go and see how you like the formula! Thanks for reading, lovely. x
